How we handle errors
We review the report against the available primary evidence. Confirmed errors are corrected in the article, and the publication date is updated when the change materially affects the story.
Minor spelling, formatting, and clarity fixes may be made without a correction note. Material changes to facts, figures, attribution, or conclusions receive a brief note at the end of the article.
Updates
When new information changes a developing story, we update the article and make the change clear from the revised wording. We do not silently rewrite a published claim to conceal a substantive error.
